“Paused Pain on a Good Note”

There are moments when healing doesn’t arrive loudly.

It doesn’t announce itself with answers or dramatic change.

Sometimes, healing comes as permissions to pause, to breathe, to rest inside God’s presence without needing to explain the pain.

This cruise was that moment for me.

I didn’t board the ship leaving everything behind. I carried my questions, my weariness, and the quiet ache that life sometimes leaves behind. But something sacred happened once we sailed. The pace slowed. The noise softened. And for the first time in a long while, I felt patience and peace not forced, not performed, but freely given. Unspeakable. Unrushed.

The first two days were about perspective.

God gently shifted my view not by removing my pain, but by inviting me to look at it differently. I realized I needed to give myself permission to persevere, to keep passionately seeking His presence and His grace without guilt or pressure. Permission to admit that rest is not weakness and that stillness can be sacred.

“Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28

Those early days reminded me that perseverance doesn’t always look like pushing forward. Sometimes it looks like staying still long enough to let God restore your strength.

As the days passed, clarity replaced striving.

The remaining five days became a celebration meaningful, and full. We celebrated my mother’s 77th birthday, a living testimony of grace, endurance, and legacy. I celebrated 21 years of marriage with my husband, marked not by perfection, but by faithfulness (not for the weak). I also celebrated my journey as a 1st time author in which words once held in my heart, now released into the world.

What amazed me most was how naturally joy showed up once I stopped wrestling for it.

“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” Isaiah 26:3

On that ship, peace wasn’t something I chased. It was something I received.

I learned that patience is not passive it is so powerful. It allows God room to speak. It creates space for gratitude to grow. And it reminds us that even in seasons of pain, God is still writing beauty into our story.

This journey didn’t erase what I’ve been through. But it reframed it and/or put it in perspective for me.

It taught me that I can pause my pain on a good note anchored in faith, wrapped in grace, and confident that perseverance is not about surviving alone, but about walking closely with God. “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  Galatians 6:9

I returned not just rested, but reminded God is present in the pause. Also, joy can definitely co-exist with healing and celebration is a form of worship.

I Love how you broke down the aspects of your cruise and how mixed in with "Pausing in your Pain". I am learning alot from you in knowing yes we will go through things but having to find a way to get through it in God, Peace and calmness and knowing everything will be okay.
